Renewal cycle and due date

RN renewal cycle and general due date

Utah RN licenses renew on a 2-year cycle and expire on January 31 of odd years.

  (1) Under Subsection 58-1-308(1), the renewal date for the two-year renewal cycle for licensees under Title 58, Chapter 31b, Nurse Practice Act, is established in Section R156-1-308a.

DOPL mails a renewal notice at least 60 days before the expiration date to the address of record.

Renewal fees

Reinstatement fee for 30 days or less

Continuing education

RN continuing competency options

During the 2-year period immediately preceding renewal, an RN may complete 400 practice hours, or 200 practice hours plus 15 contact hours of approved continuing education, or 30 contact hours of approved continuing education.

Contact hour definition

A contact hour means 60 minutes and may include a 10-minute break.

Required suicide-prevention training

The RN renewal page asks the licensee to complete at least 1 listed online suicide prevention training, and says these trainings qualify for CE credit.
